We are Burlington's Masonic Lodge. As Masons, and with our families, we are involved in many activities and programs to enable good men to be better and to help our community and region.
We are a small Lodge, but our Brothers are very involved and have a wide impact in our local region, in our Masonic District, and on Grand Lodge programs statewide.
Founded in 1955, Simonds Lodge is a recognized Masonic Lodge chartered under the
authority of the Grand Lodge of Masons in Massachusetts.
Our Grand Lodge, founded in 1733, is the oldest Grand Lodge in the
Western Hemisphere and the third oldest in the world.
The Massachusetts Grand Master is the direct successor in office of
Brother Paul Revere!
We are part of the 14th Masonic District, spanning Lodges from
Burlington and Lexington west to Littleton and Ayer.
Simonds is the home Lodge of a growing community of Masons who are Military Veterans, particularly ones associated with the Bedford V.A. facility.
As the Masonic Lodge nearest the main Lahey Hospital complex, we have an on-going program to visit and assist all Masons or their families who have hospital stays there. In this, we help Lodges and Masons from all over New England and beyond.
Simonds Lodge has sponsored local Child Identification events in cooperation with the Burlington Police Department and the Masonic-sponsored statewide CHild Identifcation Program (myCHIP.org).
SMD-HELP provides free loan for home use of wheelchairs, walkers, crutches, rollators, transport chairs, power wheelchairs/scooters, hospital beds, bed rails, raised toilet seats with handles, shower chairs, shower transfer benches, commodes, knee walkers, canes, and a host of other medical assistance equipment. The HELP distribution center in Woburn is open Saturday mornings. Brothers of Simonds Lodge are HELP volunteers for this 501(c)(3) Masonic charity. See smd-help.org.
The Masonic Angel Fund is a 501(c)(3) charity of the Masonic Angel Foundation and is administered by individual Lodges in their respective communities. Simonds Lodge has a fund in this program to provide resources to school children in need of such things as school supplies, glasses, coats or other requirements recognized by school nurses, guidance counselors and/or school administrators. The Lodge is notified of the need and provides the necessary funds to the school or family. Funds are raised by the Lodge may be matched by the Grand Lodge. In 2014, our float in Burlington's July 4 parade won the First Place trophy! Our float theme was "Living Documents" to emphasize how the Declaration of Independence, the Massachusetts Constitution, the U.S. Constitution, and the Bill of Rights are part of our lives TODAY (see pictures here).
